TO THE FRONT. - As Trooper D. Clark, of Lord Lonsdale's Own (24th) Yeomanry was to sail on Saturday for the seat of war, and his Colton friends had not long previously had knowledge of the fact, they had not been able to provide him with any special comforts for the journey. It was felt, however, that he should not e allowed to depart without any mark of recognition, consequently a subscription was opened on the Wednesday, with the result that on the following day (Thursday) the vicar was enabled to send to his address at Aldershot a postal order for a substantial sum which the recipient has very feelingly acknowledged.
